Licensing & Plans
Promptless WP is licensed on an annual subscription basis, with three plans that differ only in how many sites your license covers. Licensing, checkout, and automatic updates are handled through Freemius, the licensing platform built for WordPress plugins. This guide explains the available options and how to manage your license.
Plan Options
Free
Install Promptless and try it with no time limit:
- 2 pages maximum - Build up to 2 pages with the full editor
- All 13 section types - The complete section catalog
- Built-in document AI - Upload briefs and Word documents, and the AI maps them to structured sections
- Not included: The Promptless Connector for Claude Desktop — the Connector is included on every paid plan
Perfect for:
- Testing the plugin before you buy
- Small personal websites
- Single landing pages
- Learning the system
Paid Plans
Every paid plan includes the full Promptless feature set — all section types, the built-in document AI, and the Promptless Connector for Claude Desktop. The only thing that changes between tiers is how many sites your license covers.
| Plan | Price | Site Limit | Support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo | $79/year | 1 site | Standard support |
| Studio | $149/year | Up to 5 sites | Priority support |
| Agency | $299/year | Up to 20 sites | Priority support |
Which plan fits:
- Solo - Individual use: your own site or your own business
- Studio - Freelancers and small teams managing up to 5 sites they own or actively maintain
- Agency - Client work: the only tier licensed for sites you build for paying clients, including handoff to client ownership
What counts as a site: A WordPress installation with a public production URL. A staging environment paired with a production site doesn't count separately when it uses the same license, and local development installations aren't counted at all.
Activating Your License
First-Time Installation
When you first install Promptless WP:
- Activation prompt appears automatically
- Choose your path:
- Skip for the free version (2-page limit)
- Activate a license for a paid plan
- Enter license key (paid plans)
- Verify activation - Check for the success message
Upgrading from Free to a Paid Plan
- Go to WordPress Admin → Promptless WP
- Click the upgrade option
- Complete checkout — the secure Freemius checkout opens right inside your WordPress admin (or on our website)
- Activate — after purchase, your license activates automatically on the site you bought it from; your license key also arrives by email for use on your other sites
- Build without the page limit immediately
Upgrading Between Tiers
Moving from Solo to Studio, or Studio to Agency, mid-year is prorated against the remaining term of your current license — you pay the difference, not a second full year. Reach out through support to upgrade mid-term. Downgrades take effect at your next renewal.
Managing Your License
Check License Status
- Location: WordPress Admin → Promptless WP → Account
- Information shown:
- Current plan and site usage
- License expiration and renewal date
- Activation status
You can also manage activations, billing, and downloads any time from the Freemius User Dashboard (the link is in your purchase email).
Moving a License Between Sites
To free up a site slot for a different site:
- Deactivate on the site leaving your plan (Promptless WP → Account)
- Install Promptless WP on the new site
- Activate with the same license key
Your plan's site limit applies to simultaneously active sites — Solo covers 1, Studio up to 5, Agency up to 20.
Renewals
Licenses are annual subscriptions:
- Auto-renewal is on by default; cancel any time from the Freemius User Dashboard
- Your rate is locked — your first-year price is your ongoing renewal rate, even if pricing changes for new customers
- Email reminders arrive before renewal
Page Limits Explained (Free Plan)
How Page Counting Works
- Counted: Any page/post with Promptless WP sections enabled
- Not counted: Pages without our sections
- Not counted: Drafts and private pages
- Reusable: Delete old pages to free up slots
Reaching Your Limit
When you reach 2 pages on the free plan:
- Warning appears when creating the 2nd page
- Upgrade prompt appears when trying to create a 3rd page
- Existing pages continue working normally
- Can edit existing pages without restriction
- Can delete pages to make room for new ones
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I try before buying?
Yes. The free version lets you build 2 full pages with the complete editor and the built-in document AI, with no time limit.
Is the free version limited in features?
The editor and all 13 section types work the same in free and paid versions. The two differences: the 2-page limit, and the Promptless Connector for Claude Desktop, which is included on paid plans only.
Can I use one license on multiple sites?
It depends on your plan: Solo covers 1 site, Studio up to 5, and Agency up to 20. If you outgrow your tier, upgrades are prorated mid-year.
Can I use Promptless on client sites?
The Agency plan is the tier licensed for client work — sites you build for paying clients, including handoff to client ownership. Solo and Studio are for sites you own or actively maintain.
Do you offer lifetime licenses?
No. Promptless uses yearly licensing, which funds ongoing development, updates, and support.
Is there a refund policy?
Promptless licenses do not include a standard refund window; termination of a subscription does not entitle you to a refund unless required by applicable law. See the Terms of Service for the full policy — and if you have a specific concern, reach out through support.
What happens if my license expires or I deactivate the plugin?
No lock-in: your existing pages stay rendered as normal content. Section editing features require an active plugin, but live pages continue to display, and your content also exists as native WordPress blocks you can edit manually.
Do I lose my content if I downgrade to free?
No. All your content remains intact. You just can't create new pages beyond the free limit.
