FAQ
General
Section titled “General”What does FlowMint Workflows cost? Nothing. It is free, with no licence or premium tier.
Does it need Promptless Forms? Yes, version 1.8.0 or later, even for workflows that only run on a schedule. See Installation and setup.
Does it work with other form plugins? No. The form trigger listens only for Promptless Forms submissions.
Is there a drag-and-drop builder? No. Workflows are JSON, written through the connector or the REST API. See What FlowMint Workflows is.
Does the visitor wait while a workflow runs? No. Every run happens in the background after the submission is saved.
Building workflows
Section titled “Building workflows”Can one form start two workflows?
Only one runs per submission: the most recently updated enabled workflow
for that form. Combine them into one, with conditional steps for the
differences. See Workflow structure.
Can a workflow run on a form and on a schedule? No. A workflow has one trigger. Make two workflows.
Why is a value blank? A path that does not exist becomes an empty string. See Variables and expressions.
Why does my email say joinery instead of the option the visitor chose?
Use labels.<field> for text people read; data.<field> holds the stored
value.
Is there a when key?
No. Use skip_if, which skips the step when its condition is true.
Can I loop over a list?
There is no general loop step. fre_delete_entries and
pre_upsert_records work through a whole list themselves.
Can a step use an API key I stored in FlowMint? No. Only the Google Drive and Printavo steps use stored credentials. An API key for an HTTP step is written in the workflow. See HTTP steps.
Running and fixing
Section titled “Running and fixing”Can I run a workflow now? Not directly. Submit the form, run a scheduled workflow’s pending action under Tools → Scheduled Actions, or replay a finished run. See Testing workflows.
Does FlowMint retry failed runs?
Steps with "on_error": "retry" are retried after 1, 5 and 15 minutes,
carrying on from the step that failed. Other failures are final at once and
notify you. See
Conditions and errors.
Up to version 0.9.0 retries never started.
Can I cancel a run? Not from FlowMint. See Replaying runs.
Who is told when a run fails? Slack, if a webhook is stored, otherwise the notification email or the site’s admin email. See Failure notifications.
How long is run history kept?
Until the workflow is deleted with its runs, or the plugin is deleted with
FMW_REMOVE_ALL_DATA set. See
Viewing runs.
Can editors see run history?
Only if their role is given the flowmint_manage_workflows capability.
Where are workflows stored?
In three database tables of their own, prefixed fmw_. Credentials are
encrypted in wp_options.
What happens if I deactivate or delete the plugin?
Deactivating stops runs and keeps everything. Deleting it from the
Plugins screen keeps workflows, run history and credentials too, unless
define( 'FMW_REMOVE_ALL_DATA', true ); is in wp-config.php. Up to version
0.9.0 deleting removed them.
