Connector Setup

The connector is a small program on your computer that Claude Desktop runs. It calls FlowMint’s REST API as the WordPress user who generated the connection, with an application password. It is off until you switch it on.

  • A Mac with Terminal, Node.js 14 or later, and Claude Desktop installed.
  • A WordPress user with the flowmint_manage_workflows capability (administrators have it).
  • HTTPS on the site, or a local development site. WordPress issues application passwords only then; the Connector screen warns when it cannot.
  1. Open FlowMint Workflows → Connector.
  2. Under Connection Status, turn on Allow Claude Cowork to call this site. While it is off, every request except the preflight check is refused.
  3. Under Step 1: Generate Connection, select Generate Connection. This creates an application password for your user and replaces any earlier FlowMint connection.
  4. Under Step 2: Run Setup Command, select Copy Command, paste it into Terminal and press Return. It downloads the connector to ~/flowmint-mcp/ and adds it to Claude Desktop’s configuration, keeping any settings you added there by hand.
  5. Quit Claude Desktop completely (Cmd+Q) and open it again.
  6. Start a new conversation and type List the FlowMint workflows on my site. The assistant answers with your workflows, or says there are none.

The same steps connect the other Promptless connectors; one conversation can use all of them. See Connecting an AI Assistant.

Updating the plugin does not update the copy of the connector on your Mac. After an update, select Regenerate Connection and run the new command.

  • Pause access: turn off Allow Claude Cowork to call this site.
  • Remove access: select Revoke Connection. The application password is deleted and the connector stops working at once.
  • Every tool answers connector_disabled. Turn the switch in step 2 back on.
  • permission_denied. The user who generated the connection lacks flowmint_manage_workflows.
  • A certificate error on a local HTTPS site. Node.js does not use the Mac’s keychain. For a Local site, the setup command points NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS at Local’s certificate when it finds one. For other tools, add NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS with your certificate’s path to this server’s env block in claude_desktop_config.json by hand, then restart Claude Desktop. Never turn certificate checking off.
  • Windows and Linux. The command on this screen is written for macOS. The general walkthrough in Setting Up the Promptless Connector covers the manual setup.
