FAQ

Yes. Promptless CPT Pages has no paid tier and no licence checks. Its connector is limited only by WordPress user permissions and its on/off switch.

No. Record pages, groupings, maps and calendar feeds work on their own with the plugin’s default styling. With Promptless WP active, they take the site’s colours, fonts and spacing, and you can list records in a filterable Posts Grid. Visitor filters and post fields on grid cards need Promptless WP.

No. Record pages work on any theme. On other themes, the type’s archive page lists records without their post fields, and the Archive card meta settings have no effect.

Can it use my ACF, Meta Box or Pods fields?

Section titled “Can it use my ACF, Meta Box or Pods fields?”

No. It has its own post fields and groupings and does not read other plugins’ fields.

Not after it is created. You can change the public address through the connector with rewrite; see Creating record types.

Why does my record’s address contain an underscore?

Section titled “Why does my record’s address contain an underscore?”

The address uses the type’s slug, and slugs may contain underscores. Set a different address through the connector’s rewrite setting. Up to version 0.10.0, rewrite was stored but ignored; see Troubleshooting.

Record types, fields and groupings are stored as WordPress options. Each record’s values are post meta on the record. There are no custom tables, so normal WordPress backups and migrations include everything.

No. Changing types, fields and groupings needs the pcptpages_manage_cpts capability, which only administrators have by default. Editors can add and edit records and fill in their fields and groupings.

What happens to records if I remove their type?

Section titled “What happens to records if I remove their type?”

They stay in the database, hidden from the admin, and come back when the same slug is registered again. See Connector overview.

Record pages are cached for visitors for up to an hour, and any change that affects a page clears its cache. Archive pages load only the small card stylesheet. The gallery lightbox and map scripts load only on pages that use them.

Only when you use them: Iconify icons are fetched by the visitor’s browser from the Iconify service, and a map loads from Google — on click by default. The 53 built-in icons need no outside service.
