Installation and Setup
Promptless CPT Pages installs like any WordPress plugin and needs no licence or account. After activation, an administrator creates record types from the Post Runtime menu.
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”| Requirement | Version |
|---|---|
| WordPress | 5.6 or later (tested up to 7.1) |
| PHP | 7.4 or later |
| Promptless WP | Optional. When active, pages and cards use its design settings. |
| Promptless theme | Optional. Needed for post fields on the theme’s archive cards and for the archive card settings. |
How to install
Section titled “How to install”- In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New and search for Promptless CPT Pages, or choose Upload Plugin and upload the plugin ZIP.
- Select Install Now, then Activate.
- Open Post Runtime → Post Types. The list is empty until you create your first type — see Your first record type.
The screens
Section titled “The screens”| Screen | Where | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Post Types | Post Runtime → Post Types | Create, edit and remove record types. Each row links to Groupings and Post Fields for that type. |
| Groupings for ”…” | The Groupings link on a type | Define the repeatable lists each record of the type can carry. |
| Post Fields for ”…” | The Post Fields link on a type | Define the single values each record carries. |
| Connector | Post Runtime → Connector | Connect an AI assistant. Off until you turn it on. |
Each record type then gets its own admin menu (unless you turn off Show in admin menu), where editors add records. The record edit screen shows a Post Runtime Groupings box, and a Post Fields box once the type has at least one post field.
Who can do what
Section titled “Who can do what”- Managing record types, fields and groupings needs the
pcptpages_manage_cptscapability. Activation grants it to the Administrator role only. A developer can grant it to other roles with thepcptpages_default_manage_cpts_rolesfilter. - Adding and editing records follows normal WordPress post permissions,
because record types use the
postcapability type by default. An Editor can add and edit records, fill in their post fields and groupings, but cannot change the type’s definition.
Removing the plugin
Section titled “Removing the plugin”Deactivating the plugin unregisters your record types: their records stay in
the database but have no admin screens or public pages until you activate it
again. Deleting the plugin from Plugins keeps everything too — record-type,
grouping and field definitions, and every record’s values — and removes only
caches and the capability, so reinstalling brings the records back as they
were. To remove the definitions and values as well, add
define( 'PCPTPAGES_REMOVE_ALL_DATA', true ); to wp-config.php before
deleting; the records themselves are never deleted. Up to version 0.10.0,
deleting the plugin always removed the record-type and grouping definitions.
