Posts and Pages
Pages and posts written in the WordPress block editor, rather than built with Promptless WP, use the theme’s own layouts. Both use Promptless WP’s fonts and colours, and both follow the Content Theme setting.
Ordinary pages
Section titled “Ordinary pages”A page shows a header area with the title on the left and, when the page has a featured image, the image on the right. The content follows. The front page shows no title.
A page with the Promptless WP builder active uses its Display Mode instead; see Working with WordPress Themes.
Blog posts
Section titled “Blog posts”A post shows, in order:
- The title, then the date, the author (linked to their posts) and an estimated reading time, with the featured image beside them.
- The content.
- The post’s tags.
- Links to the previous and next post.
- Comments, when comments are open or the post already has some.
Records from Promptless CPT Pages use that plugin’s own single-page layout. Other custom post types without a template of their own use this layout.
How to set the Content Theme
Section titled “How to set the Content Theme”- Go to Appearance → Customize → Content.
- Set Content Theme to Light or Dark.
- Select Publish.
| Option | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Content Theme | Light or Dark for the content area of pages, posts, archives, search results, the 404 page and shop pages. | Light |
| Show Date on Post Cards | See Archives. | On |
| Show Author on Post Cards | See Archives. | On |
Content Theme does not change Promptless WP pages in Full Width or Canvas mode; each of their sections has its own theme variant.
Limits and common problems
Section titled “Limits and common problems”- The post’s date and author cannot be hidden on the post itself. Show Date on Post Cards and Show Author on Post Cards apply to archive and search cards only.
- The page title shows above content I wanted full width. Build the page with Promptless WP in Full Width mode, which has no theme title.
