About the theme

Is the theme free? Yes. Only Promptless WP is paid. The theme has no licence key and no premium version.

Do I need Promptless WP? No, but the theme is built for it. Without it the theme uses a default indigo colour and system fonts, and WordPress admin shows a warning that Promptless WP is not active. See What the Promptless theme is.

Can I use Promptless WP with a different theme? Yes. Promptless WP works with any theme; you lose the theme’s header, footer, announcement bar and archive settings described here. See Working with WordPress Themes.

Is it a block theme? Can I use the Site Editor? No. It is a classic theme, set up in Appearance → Customize and Appearance → Menus. The block editor works as normal for writing posts and pages.

Where do I change the colours and fonts? In Promptless WP’s Global Settings. The theme has none of its own. See Global Settings.

Does it work in right-to-left languages? Yes. Since 1.4.0, Arabic, Hebrew and other right-to-left sites get mirrored stylesheets for the header, footer, archive cards and announcement bar.

Header and menus

Can visitors switch between light and dark mode? No. There is no visitor-facing toggle. You choose Light or Dark for each part of the site in the Customizer.

Can the header be transparent over a hero image? Not as such. The Floating (Rounded Pill) layout with Float Over First Section places the header over the first section, keeping its own background so it stays readable. See Header.

How many buttons can the header have? Two. See Header buttons.

Can I build a mega menu? Yes, from any top-level item of the primary menu that has sub-items. See Menus.

What is the difference between the top bar and the announcement bar? The top bar holds two small menus of utility links. The announcement bar holds one message with an optional button, can be scheduled and closed by visitors, and sits above the top bar.

Content

How do I hide the date and author on blog cards? Untick Show Date on Post Cards and Show Author on Post Cards in Appearance → Customize → Content. For Promptless CPT Pages record types, use the type’s own settings. See Archives.

Can I remove the copyright line or change its wording? Not in the Customizer. It always reads ”© year Site Title. All rights reserved.” See Footer.

Does it add breadcrumbs, and do they conflict with my SEO plugin? Breadcrumbs are available and off by default. When Yoast SEO, Rank Math or another major SEO plugin is active, the theme leaves the structured data to that plugin. See Breadcrumbs.

Does it support WooCommerce? Yes: store page styling, a header cart icon with a mini-cart, and phone layouts for cart and checkout. See WooCommerce.

AI assistants

Can an AI assistant change the theme’s settings? Most of the header, top bar, footer and announcement bar settings, and menus, through Promptless WP’s connector. Logos, breadcrumbs, content settings, the cart icon and the menu breakpoint are set only in the Customizer. See Customizer settings.
