Backup & Data

How Promptless WP data is stored and backed up.

Information about data storage and backup compatibility.

Where data is stored:

  • Section content: wp_postmeta table
  • Global settings: wp_options table
  • Media files: WordPress uploads folder

Backup compatibility:

  • Works with all WordPress backup plugins
  • Included in standard database backups
  • WordPress export/import includes sections

Standard WordPress backup:

  1. Use any WordPress backup plugin
  2. Include database in backup
  3. Sections automatically included

No special requirements:

  • Sections stored as post meta
  • Standard backup covers everything

Recovering Earlier Versions Without a Backup

Section titled “Recovering Earlier Versions Without a Backup”
  • One page: every save is a WordPress revision that includes the sections. Open the page in the editor and use Revision history to compare and restore.
  • Site-wide design settings: every change is kept in the global settings history (the last 30), and any entry can be restored. See Staging Global Settings Changes.
  • A removed or renamed page’s address: old addresses keep redirecting. See Redirects.

Available in plugin:

  • Delete data on uninstall option
  • Clear all data button (use carefully)

Settings at: Promptless WP → Data Management. Uninstalling keeps your content unless delete data on uninstall is switched on; it is off by default.

Storage:

  • API key stored in WordPress options
  • Not exposed in frontend
  • Admin access only
