The Promptless Connector
The Promptless connector lets an AI assistant, such as Claude Desktop, work on your site in conversation. You describe what you want (“add a pricing section to the services page”, “make the header sticky”), and the assistant reads the site and makes the change through Promptless WP. It uses the same rules as the editor, so what it builds is ordinary Promptless content you can open and change in the editor.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”- Building several pages at once, or a whole site from a brief.
- Repeated or site-wide changes: design settings, the header and footer, menus, popups.
- Checking the site: an SEO audit of a page, or validation of every page.
Use the Promptless WP editor when you want to see and adjust a section directly as you work. The two mix freely: a page the assistant builds opens in the editor like any other.
The connector is separate from Promptless WP’s built-in AI features, which turn a Word document or pasted text into sections inside the editor using your own OpenAI key. See AI Features Overview.

The full list of tools, with what each one does and the limits on it, is in What the Assistant Can Do.
Promptless Forms, Promptless CPT Pages and FlowMint Workflows each have their own connector, set up from their own admin screens. Connect those as well if you want the assistant to build forms, records or workflows.
What it cannot do
Section titled “What it cannot do”- Edit or delete pages that are not Promptless pages. Reading, changing and deleting are limited to pages with the builder active. Blog posts and other pages are left alone.
- Change users, roles, plugins or WordPress settings. Its tools cover Promptless WP content and settings, the Promptless theme’s header, footer and announcement bar, and menus.
- Work without a paid licence. Every request is refused on the free plan or when a licence has lapsed. Published pages keep working either way.
How access is controlled
Section titled “How access is controlled”- It acts as one WordPress user. Setup creates a WordPress application password named “Promptless Claude Connector” for the user who generates it. The assistant can do only what that user can do, and department scoping applies to it as it does to that person.
- The password stays on your computer. It is written into Claude Desktop’s configuration file, not into the conversation.
- Deletes are recoverable by default. A deleted page goes to the WordPress trash unless a permanent delete is explicitly requested. Deploying content that would remove existing sections is refused unless the assistant confirms that is intended. Resetting every Promptless page needs a confirmation phrase.
- Requests are rate-limited per user, so a runaway loop cannot hammer the site.
- You can cut access at any time. Revoke the connection on Promptless WP → Connector, or delete the application password from the user’s profile.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- A paid Promptless WP licence.
- HTTPS on the site, or a local development site. WordPress only allows application passwords in those cases.
- On your computer: Claude Desktop and Node.js. The setup command on the Connector screen is for macOS.
