FAQ

What is Promptless WP? A WordPress page builder. A page is a stack of sections (Hero, Features, FAQ, Pricing and ten more types) that you fill in through forms in the Promptless WP editor, styled from one set of site-wide colours and fonts. AI features and an AI assistant connector are optional. See Section Types.

Do I need to write code? No. Each section is edited through its own form, and design is set in Global Settings.

What does it need to run? WordPress 6.4 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. See System Requirements.

Does it work with my theme? Yes. Choose Full Width to keep your theme’s header and footer, Canvas for a page with no theme around it, or Shortcode to place sections inside your theme’s normal content. See Working with WordPress Themes.

How do I start building a page? Edit the page in WordPress, select Activate Promptless WP in the Promptless WP box, then Edit with Promptless WP. See Quick Start Guide.

Can I use it on posts as well as pages? Yes. The Promptless WP box appears on both.

Can I reorder, copy and remove sections? Yes. Drag a section, or use its move buttons, to reorder it; each section also has Duplicate section and Delete section buttons. See Working with Sections.

Can I undo a change I already saved? Yes. Every save is kept as a version you can compare and restore. See Revision History.

Can two people edit the same page at once? No. The first person to open a page in the editor holds a lock on it; others see that it is being edited and can wait or take over.

Can I stop some editors from changing the design? Yes. Give them the Client (Content Editing Only) access level, and use departments to limit which pages they can edit. See Departments and Editor Access.

Do I have to use AI? No. Every section can be written by hand. The AI features need your own API key, added on Promptless WP → AI Settings.

What can the AI do? Turn a Word document (.docx) or pasted text into sections, generate images, and search stock photo libraries. Text generation uses OpenAI’s GPT-4.1 with your own OpenAI key, which OpenAI bills directly. See AI Features Overview.

What is the Promptless connector? A way to let an AI assistant such as Claude Desktop build and edit pages on your site in conversation. It is separate from the built-in AI features and needs a paid licence. See The Promptless Connector.

Is it accessible? The stack targets WCAG 2.2 A/AA and ships a criterion-by-criterion conformance report. See Accessibility for what the platform handles and what stays with you.

What happens to my site if the licence lapses? Published pages keep rendering unchanged, existing pages stay editable and redirects keep working. See Licensing & Plans.

Who owns the content? You do. It is stored in your WordPress database as page data and as ordinary page content. See How Promptless WP Stores Data.

What does the free plan include? The builder on up to two pages, with every section type. A paid licence removes the page limit and adds the connector. See Licensing & Plans.

How do updates arrive? Through the normal WordPress Plugins screen, like any other plugin.

Is my content included in backups? Yes. Sections are stored in the WordPress database as page data, so any full WordPress backup includes them. See Backup & Security.

What happens if I deactivate the plugin? Your sections stay in the database and come back when you reactivate it. While it is off, each Full Width or Canvas page shows the plain copy of its content that Promptless WP keeps in the page’s normal content, without section styling. A Shortcode page shows the text you wrote, with [promptless_wp] printed as plain text where the sections were.

How do I move a site to a new domain? Move it with your usual tool, then run Promptless WP → Domain Migration. See Domain Migration.

Does it work with SEO plugins? Yes. Promptless WP detects Yoast SEO, Rank Math and other major SEO plugins and avoids duplicating their tags and structured data. See SEO & Analytics.

Does it work with translation plugins? Yes: WPML, Polylang and TranslatePress. See Multilingual Sites. Right-to-left languages load mirrored layouts automatically; see Right-to-Left Languages.

Does it work with WooCommerce? Yes. The Product Grid section shows WooCommerce products. See WooCommerce Integration.

Can I use another page builder on the same site? Yes, on different pages. To place Promptless sections inside another builder’s layout, use the Shortcode display mode — see Working with WordPress Themes.
