Reusable Elements
A reusable element is a short piece of plain text, such as a phone number, an email address or an opening-hours line, saved once under a name. You place it with a shortcode like [re:office_phone], and the current value appears wherever that shortcode is used. When the value changes, you edit it in one place.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”- Contact details, addresses, hours and short legal lines that appear on several pages.
- Click-to-call and email buttons: a button link of
[re:office_phone]becomes atel:link automatically.
For a whole section you want on several pages, copy the section instead. Values are plain text: for formatted content, use a section.
How to add an element
Section titled “How to add an element”- In WordPress admin, go to Promptless WP → Reusable Elements.
- Under Add New Element, enter a Name, such as
Office Phone. The shortcode is made from it and shown as you type:[re:office_phone]. - Enter the Value, such as
555-123-4567. - Select Save Element.
The element appears under Existing Elements with its shortcode and a Copy button.
How to use an element
Section titled “How to use an element”Paste the shortcode into any section field: headings, body text, card and FAQ content, button text and button links. It also works in modals, in WordPress page and post content, excerpts and text widgets.
In the Promptless WP editor, the Shortcode Browser icon in the toolbar lists your elements, with a Copy button for each and a Manage Elements link back to the admin screen.
When a button or link field contains only the shortcode, the value is turned into a link:
| Value | Link produced |
|---|---|
| An email address | mailto: link |
A phone number (digits, spaces, +, -, brackets) | tel: link with the spaces and punctuation removed |
| Anything else | Used as the link address as it is |
How to edit or delete an element
Section titled “How to edit or delete an element”In Existing Elements, select Edit on the row, change the name or value, and select Save. The shortcode stays the same even if you change the name, so nothing that uses it breaks. The new value appears on the next page load; if your site uses a page cache, clear it to see the change straight away.
Select Delete to remove an element.
Dynamic menus
Section titled “Dynamic menus”The Dynamic Menus tab on the same screen builds a shortcode that places a WordPress menu inside a section as a list of links. Choose the menu under Select Menu, optionally tick Remove bullets, then copy the Generated Shortcode, for example [aisb_menu name="footer-links" no_bullets="true"]. The list takes its link colours from the section it is in, and follows the menu as you edit it in Appearance → Menus.
Using the connector
Section titled “Using the connector”An AI assistant connected through the Promptless connector can list, create, update and delete elements, and uses existing ones in the content it writes. Through the connector, keys must be lowercase letters, numbers and underscores, a site holds at most 100 elements, and each value can be up to 5,000 characters. See Connector Tools.
Limits and common problems
Section titled “Limits and common problems”- Plain text only. HTML in a value is removed when you save.
- A shortcode shows nothing. The key does not match an element, often because of a typo. Check it against the Shortcode column.
- Saving a new element with an existing name replaces that element’s value, because both produce the same key.
- Not in page titles. Shortcodes are not processed in a page’s title.
