Quick Start Guide
This walkthrough builds a simple page with a Hero section and a Features section, previews it and publishes it. It assumes Promptless WP is installed and activated; if not, start with Installation & Setup.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”- You are using Promptless WP for the first time.
- You want the shortest path from a blank page to a published one.
If you have a document or brief to turn into a page, you can generate the sections from it instead; see Document Upload.
Step 1: Create the page and turn Promptless WP on
Section titled “Step 1: Create the page and turn Promptless WP on”- Go to Pages, Add New Page and give the page a title, such as “About Us”.
- Find the Promptless WP box below the content area and select Activate Promptless WP.
- The Promptless WP editor opens. The page is saved as a draft.
The page uses the Full Width display mode, with your theme’s header and footer, unless you change it; see Editor Overview.
Step 2: Add a Hero section
Section titled “Step 2: Add a Hero section”- The left panel shows Add Section. Select Hero.
- The section appears in the canvas with starter content, and its settings open on the Content tab.
- Replace the Eyebrow Heading, Heading and Body Content with your own text. The canvas updates as you type.
- The starter content has two buttons. For each, change the Text, set where it goes in URL (for example
/contact) and choose its Style, or remove the one you do not need.
Step 3: Add a Features section
Section titled “Step 3: Add a Features section”- Select Add new section (the plus icon) in the toolbar, then Features.
- Set the section’s Heading, for example “Why choose us”.
- Edit the starter feature cards: each has a heading, text and an optional icon or image. Add or remove cards to suit.
- On the Layout tab, try Theme Variant set to Dark to see the section in its dark colours.
To try a different arrangement of the cards, select Remix layout at the top of the left panel. Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) with the cursor outside a text field to undo it.
Step 4: Preview
Section titled “Step 4: Preview”- Select Preview changes (the eye icon) in the toolbar.
- The page opens in a new tab as visitors will see it. Narrow the window to check how it looks on a phone.
Step 5: Publish
Section titled “Step 5: Publish”Select Publish at the right of the toolbar. The page goes live with its sections, and a message confirms it.
To change it later, open the page again with Edit with Promptless WP in the Promptless WP box, or Edit with Promptless in the admin bar while viewing the page, make your changes, and select Update.
Limits and common problems
Section titled “Limits and common problems”- Activate Promptless WP is greyed out. On the free plan, Promptless WP can be on for two pages at a time and both are in use. See Licensing & Plans.
- Changes are not on the live page. Select Publish or Update in the editor. Saving in the WordPress page screen does not save sections.
- The site’s colours or fonts are not what you want. They are set once for the whole site in Global settings (the gear in the toolbar), then saved with Save Settings. See Global Settings.
