Installation & Setup

Promptless WP is installed from a ZIP file like any other WordPress plugin. After activation you choose between a paid licence and the free plan, and optionally add an OpenAI API key for the built-in AI features. Nothing else has to be configured before you build your first page.

Before you start

• WordPress 6.4 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. See System Requirements.
• The Promptless WP ZIP file, downloaded from your purchase email or account. Do not unzip it.
• An administrator account on the site.
• Optional: an OpenAI API key, for generating sections from documents in the editor, and a Replicate API key, for generating images.

How to install and activate

1. In wp-admin, go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, then select Upload Plugin.
2. Choose the ZIP file and select Install Now.
3. Select Activate Plugin.

Promptless WP now appears in the admin menu.

If your host blocks uploads through wp-admin, unzip the file and upload the ai-section-builder-modern folder it contains to wp-content/plugins/ by SFTP, then activate Promptless WP on the Plugins screen. The folder name is expected; do not rename it.

How to activate your licence

Licensing is handled by Freemius. After activation, follow the Freemius screen that appears:

• With a paid plan: enter the licence key from your purchase email. The page limit is removed straight away.
• Without a licence: Promptless WP runs on the free plan, which lets you use the builder on two pages or posts. You can upgrade later from the Promptless WP menu.

How to add your AI keys (optional)

Until an OpenAI key is saved, a welcome notice with three first steps appears on the dashboard, on page and post screens, and on Promptless WP’s own screens. Its Configure Settings button opens the settings page. You can dismiss it.

1. Go to Promptless WP, AI Settings.
2. Under AI Configuration, paste your key into OpenAI API Key and select Test Connection.
3. Select Save Changes.
4. For image generation, paste a key into Replicate API Key under AI Image Generation and select Save API Key.

The builder works without either key: you write the content yourself, or an AI assistant builds pages through the connector. See Plugin Settings.

Freemius adds its own account and upgrade pages to the same menu. Colours, fonts and other design settings are not in this menu; they are in the editor’s Global settings.

Limits and common problems

• The upload fails with a size or permission error. Your host limits upload size. Install by SFTP instead, as above.
• Activate Promptless WP is greyed out on a page. The free plan’s two pages are in use. Activate a licence, or turn Promptless WP off on another page. See Editor Overview.
• Test Connection fails. Check the key was copied in full and that your OpenAI account has billing set up. Some hosts block outgoing connections; ask them to allow api.openai.com.
• The Promptless WP menu is missing. Only users who can manage Promptless settings see it, normally administrators.
